Tattoo Tribute to Ethan

I’ve wanted a tattoo since I was a teenager. After Ethan died, I decided to get one that incorporated some of his loves — warriors, swords — but also symbolized the flight of his spirit. So, I wanted a bird in the image.
Coincidentally, the father of one of Ava’s classmates is a tattoo artist. Abe works at Epic Electric in Eugene. He’ll be full owner of the shop soon. He specializes in Japanese imagery. He took my general concept and drew a picture of a warrior woman wearing a cloak with a river running through it. A parchment wraps around her body and is being carried off by an egret.
I love the idea and the image. Yesterday he applied the lines — just in time for the one-year anniversary of Ethan’s death. In two weeks, Abe will apply the color.
